I am the meanest teacher IN THE WORLD. I'm going to make my kids read "All Summer in a Day" because it's in the textbook and it's Bradbury.

Only, if you haven't read it, it's the singularly most traumatic story about bullying EVER. I just read it and it's essentially a horror story about how cruel kids can be. Like Lord of the Flies in 3,000 words.

I'm actually kind of thinking having the kids also read that Yuletide fic set afterwards, just because this story is SO UPSETTING on its own.

Heh - before I even got to the end of your post I was thinking they should read the fic after :-). Like, let them be traumatized for a couple of days - everyone has to be by that story, it's a rite of passage - and then fix it!!

I was actually thinking about having the kids write a story after - like what would happen next? I'd kind of love to see what they think would be the next step.

Indoctrinate them as fanfic writers early! See if anyone ends up writing slash!

Hee! I almost made them write fanfic during "Holes" but didn't. I would have recieved epic mary sue fics!
